The artist

Cristian began his artistic journey in Romania, where, as a young child in Timisoara, he was fortunate to have his artistic aspirations kindled by his brother-in-law's encouragement. His formative years were shaped by attending an art class in his hometown, which became the nurturing ground for honing his creative skills. Despite recognizing his talent for drawing and painting early on, he initially lacked the intrinsic motivation to fully embrace his artistic path.

Later in life, after relocating to England with his wife, Cristian began private art tuition in Kent and discovered his true passion for oils. The depth and versatility of this medium fascinated him, igniting a fervent love for art that has since defined his career. From that pivotal moment, he dedicated himself to mastering the techniques of oil painting, drawing inspiration from the great painters of the past.

Cristian's artistic style is deeply rooted in impressionism, yet he enjoys incorporating elements from various other artistic movements. His diverse portfolio encompasses landscapes, portraits, still life, and evocative scenes from literature.

Now based in Darlington, Cristian actively participates in local art events and engages with the artistic community to promote the appreciation of impressionism and classic painting techniques. He is immensely thankful for the opportunity to do what he loves and to share his work with the world. With each new piece, he strives to capture beauty and create art that resonates deeply with the human spirit.

Fiscutean

"Fiscutean is the surname I inherited from my father. I chose to promote my art under this name to honour his legacy and my Romanian heritage. From the language to the music, from the folklore to the cuisine, my heritage carries with it a sense of nostalgia and a deep connection to where I am from. My roots have shaped my values, my perspective, and my artistic vision. It is a driving force behind what I create and it speaks of the importance of preserving and celebrating the cultural legacies that shape us."
