"August" Still Life, Giclée Print

I was inspired to create a series comprising 12 paintings, each dedicated to a specific month of the year, making use of subjects and colours that I associate with each month.

This painting is the 8th in the series. When I think about summer, the first thing that comes to mind is “green”... green fields, green hills, green trees.. green nature in all of it's forms, and for that reason I chose to dedicate one of the summer still life works to this colour, which is also my favourite among all colours. I like the simplicity of the daisies. Their beauty could be easily overlooked. It is not a flower that asks for attention through a spectacle of colour, it can grow in the most common places and you can almost miss it if you are passing by it in a hurry, but if you allow yourself to stop and notice, you can become fascinated with its charm.

I believe that there are many things in our day to day lives which can be easily overlooked when we are busy or overthinking. We dismiss the beauty of things around us, we often don't realise how truly miraculous it is to be alive and able to see everything that surrounds us. I challenge you to stop and look. Look at this picture, look at the room you're in, look at the sky when you're outside, look at the faces of people you come in contact with and always, always notice the beauty of daisies.
