"December" Landscape, Giclée Print

I was inspired to create a series of 12 landscapes, one for each month of the year and to make use of subjects and colours that I associate with every month. Each work was completed en plein air, in one sitting. 

It's been so fulfilling to complete the last painting in this project. I went outdoors each month, in all types of weather and worked on capturing a particular image and placing it on canvas using oil colours, just like the impressionists did. I remember each place and each of the days when I went outside in such great detail. I remember how cold or warm it felt, who was there with me and what I was feeling the time. I am so grateful for those 12 different experiences and everything I learnt through this project.

I completed "December" in Richmond, depicting the river Swale, the Green Bridge and the Richmond Castle of background. The Green Bridge, with its inviting arches, becomes a picturesque frame for the river's flow. The scene is a harmonious blend of water, architecture, and nature's beauty. Richmond Castle's presence adds a historical touch to the landscape, a reminder of the rich heritage that echoes through the ages. Together, the River Swale, the Green Bridge, and Richmond Castle form a captivating picture, inviting you to take a moment and immerse yourself in the serenity of this wonderful place where history meets nature.
