In the garden

A few years ago I joined a group of local artist who were going around every week, visiting the homes of people who would open their gardens to them. It was a great summer in which I've seen charming and unforgettable gardens. You could always tell how special these were to their owners who loved and cared for them. I enjoyed walking through them and noticing special details, trying to select the perfect spot to transfer on canvas and feeling what the impressionists did when they worked outdoors. For this particular picture, I chose a small lake and the path next to it. I was on the terrace with graceful flower pots spread around me. On the other side of the lake there was a wall of trees in bloom and behind them, a gorgeous meadow. The passion for gardening seems to be deepening in me as I get older. In a world that often feels chaotic and uncertain, the garden can serve as a sanctuary – a place of solace and renewal, where we can reconnect with the earth and find a moment of clarity and peace.
