"January" Still Life Giclée Print

 I was inspired to create a series comprising 12 paintings, each dedicated to a specific month of the year, making use of subjects and colours that I associate with each month.

There is a particular shade of blue in the sky in January, which seems very cold, usually accompanied by a touch of light pink, and that was the inspiration for the background. I have used shades of cold blue and frozen colours for the entire painting and I have kept the subject very simple to express a sense of calm. Tea drinking is one of the most enjoyable and relaxing activities in January, when it is still cold outside and that was my inspiration for choosing the objects. A touch of orange complements the blues, brings a sense of warmth and creates balance.
