I was inspired to create a series of 12 landscapes, one for each month of the year and to make use of subjects and colours that I associate with every month. Each work was completed en plein air, in one sitting.
In this piece I wanted to capture the breath-taking beauty of a rapeseed field just outside Darlington in the North of England. The warmth of the May sunny day is palpable, inviting the viewer to enjoy this snapshot of the countryside in spring.
