"October" Landscape, Giclée Print

I was inspired to create a series of 12 landscapes, one for each month of the year and to make use of subjects and colours that I associate with every month. Each work was completed en plein air, in one sitting. 

This particular work represents October and it was made in Darlington, in the North of England, where I currently live. It depicts a carpet of fallen leaves surrounded by young trees. The leaves, caught in various stages of transformation, add layers of complexity to the composition, capturing the fleeting beauty of autumn. The act of painting outdoors allowed me to capture the subtle nuances of the changing atmosphere, from the crispness in the air to the gentle rustling of leaves underfoot. This plein air approach infused the painting with an immediacy and authenticity, transporting the viewer to the very moment the brush met the canvas.
